Laird
Halling is an accomplished performer and instructor on the
clarinet, saxophone, and flute. He has played music professionally
in the Portland metropolitan area for nearly 30 years, performing
classical, ragtime, traditional jazz, swing, and worship music.
Laird performed educational school concerts for 20 years through
The Young Audiences of America. He is currently playing with
Everything's Jake Swing Quintet, Dr. T's Orchestra, the Crosswinds
Big Band, John Bennett and the Music Staff, and the Dill Pickles
Ragtime Trio.
Laird
has a bachelor of Music degree in composition from Marylhurst
University. He spent over 15 years on staff at New Hope Community
Church where he directed their orchestra, praise bands, bell
choir, and choir, and wrote music for all the church's musical
groups. He currently serves at Portland Christian Center,
where he is the Director of the School of Music and also arranges
music for their musical groups.
His
arrangements are currently used by church and school groups
across the country and have been performed around the world
including Australia, Brazil, Japan, and Finland. He also has

Laird
lives with his beautiful wife Leanne and their homeschooled
12-year-old son Logan in Beaverton, Oregon.
